Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2009) & Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
I recently watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on the weekend. I enjoyed it even though I haven’t finished reading the book. But I felt that there was a very strong connection to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – and not just because they’re both books/movies in the same series.
The most obvious of the connections are Aragog and Tom Riddle’s diary. But that’s not what got me thinking. I’m watching Chamber of Secrets right now, and there is one really ridiculous scene in it that is acting as a foreshadowing:
Everything about it is just so terrible. The dialogue, the actual fight – well, I guess you can’t expect much from a Chris Columbus venture, right? Anyway, after watching the first duel I wish we had some more dialogue in Half-Blood Prince. I mean can’t you just imagine what brilliant conversation would ensue between these two? Malfoy is on a mission to kill Dumbledore, and Harry is on a mission to get his nose everywhere.
I can imagine a little, but the only problem is that I can’t think of a pun about a blood-letting spell. So that just ruins the whole thing.
